myLIFEspeaks is almost entirely Haitian led and run in Neply

myLIFEspeaks Director of Family Empowerment, Benjamin St. Jean, meeting with two of our House Parents, Mirlande and Rigal.

We are extremely proud to share that myLIFEspeaks is almost entirely Haitian led and run on-ground in Neply with over 150 Haitian employees. Other than 5 full-time US staff in Haiti, all of our employees on-site are Haitian men and women from our commUNITY. These jobs empower these Haitian men and women to provide for their families and greater commUNITY, creating lasting, sustainable change in Haiti.

This is central to our mission to develop a Christ-Centered culture one LIFE at a time in Haiti. The whole idea as Mike Wilson, Co-Founder and CEO of myLIFEspeaks, always says is to "work ourselves (as American employees) out of a job."

From the beginning, one of our main goals has always been to empower Haitians to lead and help Haiti. It has never been about "Americans coming in and saving the day". We wanted to minister and train Haitians to create sustainability and to lead their community from within. As of this year, we are now 90% Haitian-lead, with roughly 65% of the leaders being men. In a culture where men do not feel a responsibility to be leaders of their home, we have seen men take ownership of their families (following a Biblical model), and lead their community to become Christ-centered.

"Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." - 1 Thessalonians 2:8

We are constantly inspired and encouraged by how our Haitian employees and directors continue to step up to God's Call and lead extraordinary lives set apart for Christ.
