It's been almost three weeks since a 7.2 magnitude earthquake rocked Haiti on August 14, 2021, devastating buildings and killing thousands of people. Just 48 hours later, Tropical Storm Grace also wreaked havoc on Haiti causing further destruction and massive flooding.
The estimated death toll is up to 2,200, with around 12,000 injured and more people still unaccounted for. Aid workers and first responders have been working non-stop since the earthquake hit. Tens of thousands of homes were destroyed, leaving families without shelter, basic supplies, or a place to go.
myLIFEspeaks is NOT a disaster relief organization, however we are working closely to provide supplies and personnel to established, on-ground organizations in affected areas, whom we personally know and trust.
Thanks to your support of our Haiti Relief Fund, you have helped raise over $14,000 to directly provide supplies, support, and personnel to ministries on-ground in the hardest hit areas.
What you've provided so far:
1) Food & Hygiene Kits
You've provided over $3,000 worth of food & medical/hygiene kits to families in need in Les Cayes and L'azile who lost everything in the earthquake.
These kits include items like: body soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, water filtration systems, laundry soap, water, buckets, spaghetti, oil, beans, rice, and lamps/flashlights.
2) Tarps for Temporary Shelter
You've provided 940 tarps (and counting) to create temporary shelter for families who have lost their homes and/or have been displaced in the natural disasters.
3) Medical Supplies
Orthopedic and medical supplies to overwhelmed hospitals in desperate need, including walkers, crutches, braces, gauze, gloves, and sanitizer. We were even able to lend our wound vac to help patients at Adventist Diquini hospital recover and heal quicker.
4. Medical Professionals
Our LIFE Therapy Clinic staff has been volunteering at overwhelmed hospitals in hard hit areas of Haiti, helping with wound care, post-op care, triage, and patient mobilization.
