Helping Hands Necklaces
myLIFEspeaks is proud to announce a way you can lend a Helping Hand in Haiti and have a unique conversation starter as well. Over the past 8 years many people have been given the opportunity to go to Haiti and lend a Helping Hand. myLIFEspeaks has partnered with a vendor in Fermathe, Haiti, “Simon,” to offer you a chance to lend a Helping Hand in Haiti from right where you are.
When you donate $100 or more to myLIFEspeaks we would like to say thanks with a very special Hand-Made Haitian gift.
Our friend Simon gave Missy a necklace, just like the one in the picture, on one of our recent trips to Haiti. He told her, “Thank you for helping my people with your hands and feet.” That statement moved Missy and that story is always fresh on her lips. She wears her necklace almost daily and as been able to share about her heart and passion for what myLIFEspeaks is doing in Haiti. The conversations are amazing. In fact, some of you who read this will immediately recognize the necklace and know the stories of how it came to her and what Haiti means to her LIFE.
These necklaces are handmade by Simon and some of his friends that he hires to help him. They are made of scraps of metal and are etched/carved with designs inside the hand. With no power tools and only an artistic passion, Simon and his friends make these necklaces to sell in their local shops. We purchased these necklaces from Simon because we believe in him and what he is doing to help his family, neighbors, and children throughout the region. When we made our first “big” purchase from Simon we learned that he took the money and hired a man to go through the local hospital and visit every person there–DAILY. He hired local men and women to help him make his products and he paid for over 20 children to go to school in the mountain region of Kenscoff.
