WE ARE FAMILY…..
Speaking UP…
For the past year of my LIFE the verse Proverbs 31:8 has been my mission statement. It’s been ingrained into my everyday LIFE with the goal to teach people (and myself) that we can make a difference. We can choose to change our LIFE and either directly or indirectly affect someone else’s along the way. Obviously this is a huge task, one that can’t be done alone as one that can at some time times feel defeating.
I have the privilege to work with 7 little children each and every day. Each of them holds a special place in my heart. I am not sure that I could articulate the love I have for each of them. Each one of these children has a different past some we know very little about, some we know a lot about. However we do know that now all of them share one thing, FAMILY.

Daddy Mado reading a story….
Family means different things to different people. Often times here in Haiti the mother’s roll is to cook, bath children and clean the home. The father tends to take on an absent role. If they have a job they might work in another city or even another country. They tend to not spend much time with children often leaving children to roam and do whatever most days. Older children become caregivers for younger children. This is not the norm for all families but for many this is the view of family they know. A lot of times children get little to no interaction with their parents short of disciple and correcting. By bringing in children to the myLIFEspeaks house we hope to not only change some children view of family but to bring light to another view of FAMILY, one of love, quality time and being TOGETHER.
There are several different elements to this family that make this family “different.” It is composed of 7 children three with special needs, one set of twin and two other typically developing children all under the care of a Godly couple who adore each other. Although none of these children are blood related (except the twins
) it is very evident that the love they all share for each other is real and just as strong.
Each and everyone one of us have the ability to speak to something. In every decision, conversation, interaction with someone else we have the choice to build up or to tear down. Today myLIFEspeaks is choosing to speak up for FAMILY. To speak up for mothers and fathers, for them individuals, for their union in marriage and then for their partnership in leading and guiding the children they call their own. Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers today!
With much love,
Kiki <3
